Duel Tutorial Part 6: Consumable Items

If you have gotten into a monster duel lately, you'll have noticed three gray boxes with black x's in them under your duel action buttons. Those represent three additional actions you can take in monster duels. Those slots are, from left to right, for potions, utility items, and throwing items. All three of these tpyes of items are single time use items. Once you use them, they are consumed and gone forever.

Consumable items

When you have the appropriate items equipped in those slots, you will see the icons for them in those boxes. To use that item in a duel, simply click on it. Be careful, as clicking the item cannot be undone.

Currently, the new items can only be purchased in the item store, but look for them to start springing up in chests and as loot from monsters in the future.

Potions are pretty self-explanitory - when used, you gain the amount of health specified on the item, plus or minus 25%. So, if a potion has a heal stat of 400, when used, it will give you back anywhere from 300 to 500 HP.

Throwing weapons work on a percentage basis. That percentage represents the percent of damage that the thrown item will do compared to your standard attack. For example, if a thrown item has a throw damage stat of 150% and your regular attack would do 100 damage, the thrown item will do 150 damage. Throw items crit like normal and get a significant bonus to hit so they will miss less often than a standard attack. A defending opponent will never counter a thrown weapon.

Utility items are basically a catch-all for all sorts of other effects. Currently, you will see items that have a negative number towards a stat. That item will lower that stat of the target by the amount on the item (+/- 25%). For example, say a monster has 50 dodge and you use a jar of honey with -8 dodge. That jar of honey will reduce the monster's dodge by 6-10 points.

Right now the disco ball is the only utility item that works a little differently, as it adds stupid points to the monster in the amount on the item (+/- 25%). Other utility items are in the works, such as ones that will make monsters skip turns and inflict status effects and such.

These items are not yet available for use in user vs. user equipment duels, but will be soon.
