The New Equipment System is Here!

If you have been paying attention to forums or the chat, you know a new equipment system is coming. Well, today I am finally taking the wraps off of it and letting you start checking it out. I built the Awesome Theory Wiki, Encyclopedia Awesomica, to put explanations of how things work, but this is a big enough change to also warrant a blog entry, I believe.

This new equipment system is made up of two distinct parts: the equipment itself, and Mulleteria, items you insert into your equipment to make it better.

Equipment still comes in the same six types: weapons, armor, shields, helms, boots, and relics. Each piece of equipment has one built in bonus, which can now include attributes in addition to equipment stats. Each piece of equipment also comes with one to eight slots in which mulleteria can be inserted.

Slots come in three different basic types: Offensive (red), Defensive (blue), and Augment (green). Slots also have levels which can be from 1 to 10.

New Equipment

Mulleteria comes in four different types: Offensive, Defensive, Augment, and General. Mulleteria also have levels which can be from 1 to 10.

Just because a slot is an offensive slot does not mean that you must put offensive mulleteria in it, but if you do put a different type of mulleteria in it, it will get a 25% penalty to the bonus it provides.

One note is that general mulleteria can be inserted into any type of slot without a penalty.

You cannot put a mulleteria into a slot if the mulleteria is a higher level than the slot you are trying to put it into. The level of the slot (represented by the white dots on the border) only matters in how high a level of mulleteria you can put in it.

The level of the mulleteria determines the bonus the mulleteria gets to its effect. The bonus is equivalent to 2.5% per level. So, a level 4 mulleteria that gives +20 to attack will actually give +22 to attack. Also, higher level mulleteria will get better discounts on upgrading at the blacksmith.

As soon as the blacksmith is changed over to the new system, you will be able to upgrade the new equipment in various ways.

  • If a piece of equipment has less than its maximum number of slots, you'll be able to use unobtanium to add slots.
  • Unobtanium can also be used to raise the level of the slots on the equipment
  • It is unknown at this time whether the native stat of the equipment will be able to upgraded in any way. If so, it will be quite expensive
  • Unobtanium can also be used to raise the level of mulleteria. However, the blacksmith will be unable to raise the level of mulleteria above 7. You will have to find/win higher level mulleteria.
  • Materials will be used to upgrade the bonus amount of the appropriate mulleteria (i.e. sharpening stones will be used to upgrade damage boosting mulleteria)

If this seems really confusing, relax, it will make more sense as you start using it and you get used to it. The changeover to using this equipment in duels will not happen for a couple weeks, so you have time to put together a new set of equipment before then.

When the changeover happens, you'll be compensated for all your old equipment - you will get the full value back in mullets, and you will get 100% of all materials spent on your current gear.

Very soon, you'll start getting new equipment and mulleteria from monsters, chests, and the slots. Also, within a few days, the old equipment store will go away. Not long after that, the blacksmith will changeover to the new system, and the old system will not be upgradeable anymore.

That is all for now, stay tuned for more information and updates!

i'll be honest, i really really really don't like the new equipment set up. it's waaaaaay too complex and takes much more time, which is time i don't have as much of anymore.

Note that you will be weaker all around at first, but you'll be able to be stronger in a focused area if you desire. At higher levels you'll be able to be much stronger if you do it right.

Sounds awesome. Makes for a lot more moldability in higher levels.
